Examen 2021-2022

  • How would a TQM for a Belgian company producing fruits and vegetables for international trade (from Belgium to Japan) look like and how would it be implemented? Give a scheme to show the key elements.

  • A company is importing a raw material containing 5% of a chemical substance. As the company does not have a lot of information from this supplier about the presence of the substance, they want to do a batch control using a simple attribute sampling scheme: B = (50;0).

    • Explain: what does B=(50;0) mean?
    • Indicate the AQL and LTPD on your OC curve (approximately). And explain how to interpret this.
    • Is this a good sampling plan for this purpose? Explain why/why not.
  • Explain what a bioconcentration test is. Explain how it can be conducted in a scientifically sound manner (experimental design/setup), what observations/measurements need to be made in such an experiment and how the data can be analysed. Finally, explain the position of this kind of test in a PBT assessment and how the results of the data analysis are used in this. Illustrate your answer with a figure/scheme and/or equations where appropriate. Spell out all abbreviations in full.

  • Explain the difference between cumulated exposure and aggregated exposure. Give an example of a chemical substance, for which this type of exposure measurement is used, for both.

  • REACH: Explain the figure (dia 23). Why is communication of safety information so important?

Toxic hazard pictogram (skull and crossbones)

  • Question about traceability (can't remember this one anymore).
